A sleeve gastrectomy, also known as a gastric sleeve surgery, is a weight-loss procedure that involves the removal of a large portion of the stomach, creating a sleeve-shaped tube or pouch. Stomach Reduction: The surgeon removes approximately 75-80% of the stomach along the greater curvature, leaving a smaller, banana-shaped stomach.

Remaining Stomach: The remaining portion of the stomach is stapled or sutured closed, and the removed part is permanently separated.
