Hernia Repair

Hernia Repair is a surgical procedure performed to fix a hernia, which occurs when an organ or fatty tissue protrudes through a weak spot or opening in the surrounding muscle or connective tissue. Hernias commonly occur in the abdomen, but they can also develop in other areas of the body.

Hernia repair can be performed through different techniques:

Open Hernia Repair (Herniorrhaphy): In this traditional approach, a single, larger incision is made near the hernia, and the protruding tissue is pushed back into place. The weakened muscle wall is then reinforced with stitches or mesh.

Laparoscopic Hernia Repair: This minimally invasive technique involves making several small incisions, through which a camera and surgical instruments are inserted. The surgeon views the area on a monitor and uses specialized instruments to repair the hernia, often with the use of mesh.

Robotic-Assisted Hernia Repair: Similar to laparoscopic surgery, this approach uses robotic technology to assist the surgeon in performing the repair. The surgeon controls the robotic system to manipulate instruments and complete the procedure.

If you suspect you have a hernia or are experiencing symptoms such as a visible bulge, pain, or discomfort, it's essential to consult with a healthcare professional for a proper diagnosis and to discuss the most appropriate treatment options, which may include hernia repair in some cases.
